Phil Hart here. The full time position I held at my previous employer in Henderson, NC has expired. I will now focus on growing my own company, Dataforge, into the service I’ve envisioned it to be. Here’s what Ellen & I will immediately be busy doing.
Internet Provider Switch – Customers of an internet service may find they need to switch to another internet provider. If a client (home or business) would like, one of our technicians can meet the installer for the new internet service on your site to ensure a smooth transition. Most major internet providers in this area are not able, and are not required, to hook up your new service to your existing equipment. They may just hook up the new equipment box and say that’s all they know how to do. And it may work just fine. But if some settings need to be adjusted on your router, or server, that is not their responsibility. Major examples for this include if you have a static IP address, port forwarding, and multiple or wireless routers. Our charge for this service is normally $80 which includes an hour of onsite time. When you sign up with another internet provider, they may pressure you to switch your website and email service to them. This is NOT NECESSARY, and we would much rather transfer your site to our service. Please see the website and email notes below. We will shortly start offering dialup internet service ourselves, but we will not offer a high speed service at this time. Our current service extent regarding high speed service will be to help you get the service from another provider correctly into your network.
Website Switch – Customers of an internet service may find they would like to switch their website to a local provider that can offer complete assistance with the switch, and maintain an ongoing relationship with the customer to manage the website. In many of these cases, the customer only has to inform the old provider of the intended switch, and we will handle everything else. There is no charge for the switch service itself as long as you allow us to handle your website hosting. Our web hosting prices start at $15 monthly for a basic website. Average rates, including website and email accounts usually runs $25 – $40 monthly. Large accounts will be handled on an individual basis.
Email switch - Customers of an internet service may find that once they switch internet providers, they will lose access to their old email account. We can not save your old account, as that is tied to the provider itself. However, we can setup a website for your company so if you were sales@isp.com before, you could be sales@yourcompany.com now. This new address will be independent of your internet provider, allowing you freedom to move services in the future as well. The charge to set this up would be $25 for 1 year domain name registration, and a website hosting account which ranges $15 – $40 monthly. Large accounts will be handled on an individual basis. Since you do not actually need to create a website, there will be no web design charges. Once you’re ready though, we can also create a website for your business.
